Six-continent food culture & official observance calendar
Food Calendar
Explore sourced food, agrifood and food-culture dates across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania. Dates stay attached to their source, recurrence model and cultural scope rather than becoming generic “food holidays”.
Quick start
Before you start
A source-labelled, date-resolved calendar of food/agrifood observances and food-culture moments across six inhabited continents, with saved shortlist and calendar export.
Choose a year, continent and event type. For cultural festivals, read the scope note before treating a broad cultural date as a food-only observance.
Resolved annual dates, regional scope, event type, food relevance, source authority, verification date, selected-event shortlist and ICS calendar export.
Examples for home cooking and teaching
Plan seasonal editorial coverage
Scan the next 90 days for official food-system observances and cultural dates, then verify the source and cultural scope before commissioning a recipe, blog or Food News angle.
Explore food culture by continent
Use the six-continent filter as a discovery starting point while keeping country, community and source context visible.
Build a household occasion plan
Save relevant dates to this browser or export them to an .ics calendar, then move into Recipe Search, Meal Planning or party quantities when you actually decide to cook.
Save selected event keys locally in this browser, reload them later, or delete them. My Resources detects only the known saved-work key and never receives the event payload.
Trust & safety at a glance
Use the result for the decision it was built to support
An occurrence is shown only when its registered recurrence/date-table rule resolves for the selected year. Missing variable-year dates are suppressed rather than estimated.
Explore sourced food-system observances and carefully scoped food/cultural dates across six inhabited continents for discovery and planning context.
Not legal/public-holiday advice, a complete cultural calendar, an automatic local-events feed, a produce-seasonality predictor, cultural certification or proof that one food represents a whole country/continent.
Dates retain their registered global, country or regional scope. A continent is a discovery filter only; country-specific observances remain country-specific.
Calendar filters and saved event selections remain request/browser-local. The server stores only bounded administrator source/verification/configuration records, not a visitor event profile. Commercial inventory cannot alter dates, source provenance, event visibility, recurrence or regional scope.
Privacy scope: this describes the working-data behaviour of this Resources tool only. Site-level cookies, analytics, consent and other storage/access technologies remain governed by RecipeWanted’s wider privacy/CMP configuration and applicable law.
Source scope: external authorities and specialist references support specific information; linking to them does not mean they have reviewed, approved or endorsed RecipeWanted.
How this Resource reaches its result
Each enabled event has a stable identity, scope, source class, verification date and explicit recurrence/date-table rule. Occurrences are resolved deterministically for the requested year.
The same registry fingerprint and selected year produce the same resolved event dates under the current recurrence contract.
Built-in records are tied to registered governmental/intergovernmental/public-law/tourism-authority sources; custom entries require the same explicit source metadata.
Commercial and analytics state cannot change event dates, source scope or visibility. No runtime AI creates cultural dates or event provenance.
Uncertainty stays explicit: Cultural events vary locally and not every tradition is represented. Variable-year dates outside registered source tables are suppressed rather than estimated.
Evidence reference: RWRES-5496748ECA82D377 — a RecipeWanted integrity/reference fingerprint for this release evidence set, not certification or third-party endorsement.
Report a factual or method concern if a source conflicts with the tool, a calculation appears wrong, or a boundary needs review.

A sourced food calendar across six continents
Find dates connected with food, farming and cultural celebrations across six continents. Each entry shows its source, recorded verification date and how the date is determined. Check the regional scope before using an event in a lesson or menu; a date does not represent every community.
Six-continent discovery
Start broad, then read the country and source context
What is coming up?
Next 90 days
This view crosses the year boundary automatically. If an event uses an authoritative year-specific table and the next year is not registered, RecipeWanted suppresses it rather than guessing the date.

How to read the calendar
Date confidence and cultural context matter as much as the title
Fixed date
A date such as World Food Day on 16 October can recur deterministically each year while its annual campaign theme may change.
Rule-based date
Canadian and U.S. Thanksgiving use explicit weekday rules. The engine calculates the date; it does not store a hand-written year list.
Official year table
Matariki uses the statutory New Zealand date table. When the table ends, RecipeWanted stops resolving future dates rather than estimating them astronomically.
Cultural window
Brazil’s Festas Juninas are represented as a June cultural season, not one fake nationwide event date. Local events still need local confirmation.
Broader holiday context
Heritage Day, Thanksgiving, Inti Raymi and Matariki are not reduced to “food holidays”. Their cards explain why food is relevant while preserving the wider cultural meaning.
Not a seasonality engine
Produce seasons can vary by latitude, altitude, cultivar, supply chain and greenhouse/field production. The calendar does not infer growing seasons for an entire continent.

What the Food Calendar does not infer
A continent is too broad to prove harvest or availability dates.
Local festivals are not harvested from social media, tourism feeds or event marketplaces without a reviewed source contract.
The curated registry is a useful starting set, not a claim to contain every significant food tradition or community date.
A festival date never extends storage life, proves allergen suitability or changes safe cooking guidance.
A calendar event can inspire research; it does not make any specific RecipeWanted recipe culturally authoritative.
The initial product covers six inhabited continents for practical culinary discovery. Antarctica is outside this release scope.
Food Calendar FAQ
Questions that prevent calendar misuse
Why are there only six continents?
The continent filters cover Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania. Antarctica is explicitly outside this culinary product scope; the page is not trying to settle competing geographic classification systems.
Does a continent filter mean the whole continent celebrates the event?
No. The event card identifies whether the scope is global or country-specific. A continent is only the discovery grouping.
Why are some cultural holidays included if they are not food-only events?
Food is often part of broader cultural observances. RecipeWanted keeps those entries only when the wider context is clear and labels them as cultural/public-holiday context rather than renaming them as food holidays.
Why not include every National Pizza Day or similar date online?
Many commercial “food day” lists have unclear origin or no authoritative date source. The calendar prioritises dates with sources you can check.
Can I use the calendar as a produce-season guide?
No. Continental produce seasonality is too coarse. Local climate, growing methods, imports and cultivars can change availability substantially.
What happens when an event changes date each year?
The registry uses either an explicit rule, such as the fourth Thursday in November, or an authoritative year-date table. If neither exists for that year, the event is not guessed.
Does saving an event create a RecipeWanted account profile?
No. The selected keys are stored locally in your browser only and can be deleted from the page.
What does the .ics export contain?
Only the selected event title, resolved all-day start/end dates and a short RecipeWanted source-context note. It does not contain your account, pantry, recipes or analytics identifiers.
Can a sponsor or affiliate partner change which dates are shown?
No. Commercial state is downstream and cannot change the event registry, source authority, recurrence calculation, ranking or filters.
How should I use a cultural date for a recipe or article?
Start with the event source and scope, then research the cuisine/community properly. Avoid treating one dish as universally representative, and link to verified RecipeWanted content only when it genuinely fits.

Legal, privacy & fair-use notice
Free Resources, with clear limits and clear data boundaries.
RecipeWanted Resources provides general cooking information, deterministic calculations, planning aids and reference tools. It is not legal, medical, dietetic, allergy, regulatory or other professional advice, and it does not replace product labels, manufacturer instructions, competent-authority guidance or qualified professional advice where those are needed.
Each tool explains how it handles your entries. This Resources analytics dataset does not retain recipe or ingredient names, pantry lists, allergy, dietary or health information, other free text, exact quantities, visitor/session/account IDs, IP addresses, user-agent strings or referrer URLs.
This Resources statistics layer is currently enabled and records only allowlisted aggregate interaction and coarse workflow/build-shape counters. Daily aggregate buckets are retained for up to 730 days. Aggregate results are for RecipeWanted/QHE internal RecipeWanted service improvement only; they are not sold or used by this layer for advertising measurement, individual profiling or cross-site tracking.
Any reasonable fair-use or availability rules for free tools are separate from privacy law. Access is not conditional on participating in Resources analytics, and “fair use” is not treated as consent or as a legal basis for collecting personal data. On instrumented Resources pages, the usage-statistics panel provides a simple, free objection control.
First-party usage statistics
Help RecipeWanted learn what is actually useful
Resources records aggregate usage statistics such as qualified tool views, whether a working surface is started, route-level value actions, coarse read depth, broad workflow/build-shape buckets and which non-commercial RecipeWanted handoffs are used. Build-shape signals are deliberately coarse (for example, a small/medium/large row-count bucket or a selected calculator mode): RecipeWanted does not send the recipe name, ingredient list, pantry items, allergen/dietary choices, free text or exact quantities to this analytics dataset; it does not create a visitor/session ID; and it does not store IP addresses, user-agent strings or referrer URLs in the analytics dataset.
Purpose: help RecipeWanted/QHE decide which free tools, workflows, supporting content and first-party integrations to improve next. Aggregate statistics may be reviewed internally across QHE only for that same RecipeWanted service-improvement purpose. They are not sold and are not used by this layer for advertising measurement, cross-site tracking or individual profiling. Free access is not conditional on this measurement: opting out does not disable or reduce any Resource tool.
What is counted and retained?
Allowed counters include 5-second qualified views, 30 seconds of visible engagement, 50%/90% read depth, first working-surface use, selected non-commercial feature/export/continuity actions, hub task choices, broad allowlisted workflow/build-shape buckets and RecipeWanted internal/ecosystem handoffs. Counts are merged directly into UTC daily buckets and retained for up to 730 days under the current admin setting. The only browser preference this layer writes is the first-party objection cookie after you choose to opt out; removing the objection deletes that preference. This describes the Resources aggregate dataset only; ordinary hosting, security, caching, firewall, consent-management or server-log systems remain governed separately by RecipeWanted’s wider privacy/CMP arrangements.
Next step
Use the tool, then get back to cooking.
Resources should remove friction around the task rather than become another layer to manage.
